| One of Chances' most ambitious initiatives
is the establishment of a long overdue institute in Ghana, dedicated to
teaching Hotel Management and related disciplines in the Hospitality Sector.
Plans to construct the Chances University of Hotel Management are well
underway with the completion of a feasibility study and architectural designs. |
 |
| Located adjacent to the grounds
of Chance's Hotel and the Shopping Mall, the university will feature a
main building for classes, which will double as a state of the art conference
facility with lecture halls, auditorium and a restaurant. |
 |
| Two dormitory hostels are planned
to accommodate 100 male students and 100 female students. Incorporating
"green" principles of design, the facility will cater to the needs of students
from both Ghana and the West African region. |
 |
| Teaching curriculums are planned
for one and two year diploma programmes in all areas of hotel management,
restaurant & catering modules, conference management and guest relations
- with the capacity to expand into related tourism studies and other elements
of the Hospitality Sector. The primary objective of the University will
be to educate students and give them the opportunity to apply their skills
with practical work during their course of studies. A unique feature of
the University will be the application of training as a "hands-on" experience
with Chances hotel - an opportunity that is missing at other institutions
offering these courses in Ghana. |
 |
| Management at Chances has already
initiated the process by designing, acquiring and preparing the land for
the project. An international firm of architects and engineers, Messrs
Ateliers MvdN (based in Lome) and Mssrs Bartels Ingenieurs based in Accra
were contracted to undertake the project design. To see some artist's renderings
